About this Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how TipsRex uses them, which cookies are placed on your device when you visit tipsrex.com, and how you can control or withdraw your consent at any time. It works alongside our Privacy Policy, which sets out in full what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA and LGPD. Your consent applies to the domain tipsrex.com.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files saved on your device (computer, tablet or phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to help sites run, to remember your preferences, and to gather information about how a site is used. Cookies fall into a few groups:
- First-party cookies: set directly by tipsrex.com.
- Third-party cookies: set by services we rely on, such as Google Analytics, advertising networks, affiliate trackers, embedded video players and social media.
- Session cookies: removed as soon as you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies: stay on your device for a set period, from a few minutes to a few years.
Some technologies that behave like cookies, including local storage, pixels, web beacons and fingerprinting scripts, are treated the same way under this policy.
How we use cookies
TipsRex uses cookies for four main purposes:
- Site functionality: to keep the site running properly and securely.
- Your preferences: to remember choices you have made, such as your language or details you have entered in a form.
- Analytics: to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used so we can improve it.
- Advertising and affiliate attribution: to support the display advertising and affiliate links that fund the site.
We do not use cookies to profile you by name or identity, to follow your activity on unrelated websites for our own purposes, or to sell cookie-derived data to third parties.
Types of cookies we use
Strictly necessary cookies. Required for the site to function. These include session cookies, security tokens, and the record of your cookie consent itself. They cannot be turned off because the site would not work properly without them, and they are exempt from consent under EU ePrivacy rules.
Functional cookies. Remember preferences you have set, such as your language choice or details you entered in a contact or comment form so you do not have to type them again. These are not essential, but they make return visits smoother.
Analytics cookies. Set by Google Analytics to measure aggregate usage, including pages visited, time on page, device type, approximate region and traffic source. IP addresses are anonymised before processing. These are set only after you give consent.
Advertising and affiliate cookies. Set by third-party advertising systems that serve ads on the site, and by bookmaker affiliate programmes when you click an affiliate link. They measure ad performance, stop the same ad showing repeatedly, and attribute referrals to bookmakers so we can be paid. These are set only after you give consent.
Cookies currently in use
The table below lists the main cookies that may be set on the site, what they do and how long they last.
| Cookie | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consent record (e.g. cookie_consent) | Strictly necessary | Stores your cookie choices so the banner is not shown on every visit. | Up to 12 months |
| Session (e.g. session ID) | Strictly necessary | Keeps your session active while you browse. | Session (until the browser closes) |
| _ga | Analytics (Google Analytics) | Distinguishes visitors to produce aggregate usage statistics. | Up to 2 years |
| _ga_<ID> | Analytics (Google Analytics 4) | Maintains session state for GA4 measurement. | Up to 2 years |
| Advertising cookies | Advertising | Measure ad performance and stop the same ad repeating. Set by ad partners only after consent. | 30 days to 13 months |
| Affiliate cookies | Affiliate | Attribute referrals when you click an outbound link to a bookmaker, so we can be credited. Set only after consent. | Typically 30 to 90 days |
The cookies above are typical for the tools described. Please check the exact names and durations set on your site and update this table accordingly.
How to control or withdraw your consent
When you first visit the site, our cookie banner asks for your consent to non-essential cookies. You can accept all, reject all, or customise your choices. You can change your decision at any time using the cookie settings link in the site footer, which reopens the consent options so you can adjust or fully withdraw your consent.
You can also manage cookies directly in your browser:
- Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
- Apple Safari: Settings (or Preferences) > Privacy
- Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions
- Opera: Settings > Advanced > Privacy & security
To opt out of Google Analytics specifically, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. To opt out of personalised advertising across most major networks at once, visit youronlinechoices.com (EU/UK) or aboutads.info (US). For general information about cookies, see allaboutcookies.org.
What happens if you reject cookies?
You can use TipsRex perfectly well without any non-essential cookies. The site, all betting tips, all analysis and all editorial content stay fully available. The differences are:
- We will not collect analytics from your visit, so it will not appear in our traffic reports.
- Any advertising shown will be non-personalised. You will still see ads, but they will be generic rather than tailored.
- If you click an affiliate link to a bookmaker, that bookmaker's cookies will still be set. Their cookies are their responsibility, not ours.
- If you entered details in a form and chose to save them, that preference will not be remembered when functional cookies are rejected.
Updates to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example when we add or remove a service, when the law changes, or when the cookies on the site change. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when the most recent change was made. Continuing to use the site after a material change means you accept the updated policy.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use TipsRex without accepting cookies?
Yes, fully. All betting tips, analysis and editorial content work without non-essential cookies. Only strictly necessary cookies are required for the site to run, and these are exempt from consent under EU ePrivacy rules. If you reject analytics and advertising cookies, the site works the same for you; we simply receive less data about how it is used.
How do I withdraw my consent after I have accepted?
Use the cookie settings link in the site footer to reopen the consent options. You can change individual categories or withdraw consent entirely, and the site will delete the relevant cookies on your next page load. You can also delete cookies manually in your browser settings.
Does TipsRex use tracking pixels or fingerprinting?
We use Google Analytics for aggregate usage, which sets cookies and may use anonymised device characteristics for measurement. We do not run our own browser-fingerprinting scripts. Third-party advertising and affiliate systems on the site may use pixels and similar technologies, but only after you give consent through our banner.
How long do cookies on TipsRex last?
Session cookies last only until you close your browser. Functional cookies last up to one year. Google Analytics cookies typically last between 2 minutes and 2 years depending on the cookie. Advertising cookies last between 30 days and 13 months. The full list with durations is in the cookie table above.
What is the difference between this Cookie Policy and the Privacy Policy?
This Cookie Policy covers what is stored on your device when you visit the site and how you control it. The Privacy Policy covers everything we do with personal data more broadly, including newsletter sign-ups, contact emails, comments, data retention, your full rights under the GDPR and similar laws, and how we share data with service providers. Both apply together.
